NETS-T indicators

Model Digital-Age Work and Learning:

My GAME plan for strengthening my confidence and proficiency in this indicator is as follows:
  • Use the tools that my county has in place for keeping in touch with parents in regards to students grades, assignments, due dates, etc. more frequently and more realistically.
  • Stay on top of new technologies myself so that I can understand how to use and teach the new technologies to my students. This is the first time that I 've actually used a blog.
  • Use these new technologies for the different assignments that are completed in my classes.
Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership:

My GAME plan for strengthening my confidence and proficiency in this indicator is as follows:
  • I plan on attending county in-services to learn from my peers the new technologies offered in our county.
  • I plan on being a presenter, in order to teach to my peers new technologies that I already know about.
  • I will be spending time with my county supervisor over the summer to discuss ways our department can move into the 21st century's digital age.

  1. Hi Michael,
That is a great action plan to be a presenter in order to teach your peers. I believe that when you teach anything new, the information stays with you and is empowering, and of course, helps others!
Also, you made an interesting comment about using your county's technology tools more frequently and realistically. I am wondering what you or your county has done in the past that was not realistic in terms of using technology tools. I can think of some in my district; however, I am not sure if I am thinking the same.
Thanks for any input! (I am so curious!)

  2. Megan,

Our county has spent money to incorporate technology in ways that just was not benificial. For example, we continually spend money on our grading system and every year there is a different problem, another one is that there is we are not alowed to use blogging sites(they are blocked, which makes this assignment tough to do from school) and then yet last year HR has us do a blogging activity for staff development, IRONIC.

  3. Hi Michael,

What tool does your county use to keep in touch with parents? Our county is so large and so diverse we do not do much of anything the same.

Good for you for being an agent of change! It is awesome you are going to share what you have learned with colleagues. Perhaps, like me, they are not even aware of the newest technologies until someone shows it to them!

    Keep up the awesome work!

We use EDLINE as a tool for keeping touch with parents and our students.

We are able to post assignments, due dates, syllabus, pictures, notes, and student grades.

  5. Michael,
I think that it is a great idea to gain knowledge yourself about using 21st century skills as you begin to use them in your classroom. Seeking help from workshops and/or supervisors is a great way to do that.

Great job for your first post!
